The house in Perpoli enjoys a very special location on the edge of a tiny walled mediaeval village. The views are indescribably beautiful, with the garden overlooking the entire Serchio valley on one side, and the village church on the other.
The sunsets from the garden are particularly wonderful, and this house is the perfect place to relax away from it all, on the edge of the Natural Park of the Apuane Alps, yet only 15 minutes by car from Barga and 5 mins from Castelnuovo.
The house is on two floors. Door opens straight into living room/dining room with large open fire, dining table, two chairs, TV, DVD and Video tape. This room leads into old fashioned kitchen (wonderful views), with oven/hob and fridge (Washing machine is kept in the Cantina (cellar) underneath the house). Upstairs there are: one double bedroom, one room with bunk beds and a single bed and a large bathroom. Outside the garden grant fantastic views over valley, there are table and chairs and BBQ.

The property is basically furnished, but what it lacks in home comforts is more than made up for by the location in terms of peace and quiet, wonderful views, unique walled village, and closeness to towns of the area. The short circular walk around the village walls is particularly fascinating.
Cars are only permitted in the village for loading/unloading although there is a free car park just outside the village gates less than 30 seconds away.

- It’s for people who wish to visit Garfagnana, Barga, Castelnuovo Garfagnana, Vagli and Lucca.
- It is for those who love Nature but want all facilities nearby: In Gallicano, just 7 km away, you will find a big supermarket and sports centre with a swimming pool, a tennis court and a bowling ground. In Castelnuovo, 7 kms away, there are many interesting shops and a big market on Thursday mornings where, among other things, you can buy typical local products.
- It’s for those who want a view on the Apuan Alps and reach the Apuan Alps in a short time.

From here : Perpoli is only 15 minutes by car from the Mediaeval town of Barga renowned for its restaurants, bars, and outdoor musical events (usually classics, and jazz), as well as its fantastic architecture and old town with windy cobbled streets...
It is also only 5 minutes by car from the market town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana which is famous for its Thursday morning markets, and also has lots of restaurants and bars.
Both towns have large outdoor swimming pools in pretty locations....
The village is circa 50 mins from the stunning city of Lucca, 1 hr 15 mins from Pisa, 1hr 40 mins from Florence, and 20 minutes from the Sunken village at Vagli.
Where we are :
From Lucca follow the road S.S. n°12 until a crossroads (Esselunga shopping centre) and here turn left, pass through two tunnels and continue along Serchio Valley (S.P.2). Continue up the road which runs straight up the valley bottom always with river on our right and pass towns of Diecimo (18 km) and Borgo a Mozzano (22 km), famous for teh "Ponte del Diavolo" (Devil's Bridge). Continue up the valley until Gallicano. From Gallicano follow indication for SP43 Perpoli (8 kms) or Monte Perpoli (5 Kms). When you arrive in Monteperpoli turn right before Bonini Restaurant and after 3 Kms you arrive in Perpoli. |
