On our farm you will live in a typical countryside environment, near the River Serchio and near the main roads, which lead to the most important places of the area.

As soon as you reach the old farmhouse you will feel immersed in the past: the entrance is up a stone stairway covered by sweet smelling jasmine and it leads to a small terrace. Crossing the doorway you enter into the kitchen, you will be struck by the care taken in preserving the farmhouse style: the stone sink, the fireplace, the furniture make it a cosy and comfortable place.
From the kitchen, a door leads to a small bathroom with shower, a toilet, a washing basin. On the other side of the kitchen there is another door which leads to the sitting room, which the farmers used on special occasions such as receiving guests or on special festivities. In the living room there is a round table, a cupboard, a comfortable sofa and chairs. All the furniture is of the late nineteenth century.
There are three bedrooms; a first bedroom is next to the living room, while the others double bedrooms are upstairs. They can be reached using a steep wooden staircase which is in the living room. The first bedroom has a sofa bed, a chest of drawers, a wardrobe and a few chairs.
Upstairs, besides the two bedrooms there is a bathroom with an old fashioned bath, (but you can also use it as a shower), a wash basin, toilet, bidet and washing machine, which can be used by the guests. One of the double bedrooms has a beautiful wrought iron bed, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers. The other double bedroom has early twentieth century furniture and a lovely terrace where you can have your breakfasts, relaxing and enjoying the surrounding countryside full of perfumes and colours, which change with the seasons.

Who is it for?
- It’s for people who wish to visit Garfagnana, Barga, Castelvecchio Pascoli, Bagni di Lucca, Castelnuovo Garfagnana, Lucca. The house is located at a distance of 400 m from the road SR445 – SS 445 and at 660 m from the railway station of Castelvecchio.
- It is for those who love Nature but want all facilities nearby: in fact, at a short distance from the house you will find the well known “Osteria (Inn) Ritrovo del Platano”, an excellent restaurant which was favoured by the famous Italian poet Giovanni Pascoli. Here you can enjoy the superb wine “Il Melograno” produced in this area. In Gallicano, just 3 km away, you will find a big supermarket and sports centre with a swimming pool, a tennis court and a bowling ground. In Castelnuovo, 7 kms away, there are many interesting shops and a big market on Thursday mornings where, among other things, you can buy typical local products.
- It’s for those who love fishing – inside the farm there is a small private lake, where excellent trout may be fished if you are lucky! The River Serchio flows 500 m away.

Ponte di Campia is only 5 minutes by car from the Mediaeval town of Barga renowned for its restaurants, bars, and outdoor musical events (usually classics, and jazz), as well as its fantastic architecture and old town with windy cobbled streets...Barga merit to be one of "I Borghi piu belli d’Italia"
Il Mezzadro is 3 minutes by car from Castelvecchio Pascoli with the house of famous Italian poet Giovanni Pascoli
It is also only 10 minutes by car from the market town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana which is famous for its Thursday morning markets, and also has lots of restaurants and bars.
The village is circa 45 mins from the stunning city of Lucca, 1 hr 15 mins from Pisa, 1hr 40 mins from Florence, and 20 minutes from the Sunken village at Vagli.
Where we are :
From Lucca follow the road S.S. n°12 until a crossroads (Esselunga shopping centre) and here turn left, pass through two tunnels and continue along Serchio Valley (S.P.2). Continue up the road which runs straight up the valley bottom always with river on our right and pass towns of Diecimo (18 km) and Borgo a Mozzano (22 km), famous for teh "Ponte del Diavolo" (Devil's Bridge). Continue up the valley until Gallicano. 3 kms after Gallicano you arrive at Ponte di Campia |
