“La Radice” farm is found in the hills (600 m above sea level) between Trassilico and Verni, two medieval fortifications, once found on the boundaries between “Ducato di Modena” and “Granducato di Toscana”. The delightful views surrounding the farm are framed by chestnut woods telling the story of a peasant’s tradition, an integral part of our past.
“La Radice” agriturismo has two apartments renovated in typical old farm style with kitchen, living room with fireplace, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, for a total of 8 bed places.
It is possible to visit places of particular interest throughout the Garfagnana and buy typical local products off our land…

If you love nature and hiking, you can visit Monte Forato a natural arch which connects the two minor peaks situated along the crest which separates Versilia from Garfagnana.For a unique and impressive spectacle of beauty, we recommend the panorama of the nearby mountains Panie.
For a beautiful example of underground caves and tunnels, we suggest a visit to the Grotta del Vento,where there are splendid limestone formations.
If you are a passionate about old buildings we suggest you stop at Eremo di Calominia characteristic monastery built in the 13th century and situated at the base of a cave in south Garfagnana, near Gallicano. Another important example of ancient construction is the Fortezza delle Verrucole an impressive fortress near Villa Collemandina, which dominates the entire Garfagnana.
Where we are :
From Lucca follow the road S.S. n°12 until a crossroads (Esselunga shopping centre) and here turn left, pass through two tunnels and continue along Serchio Valley (S.P.2). Continue up the road which runs straight up the valley bottom always with river on our right and pass towns of Diecimo (18 km) and Borgo a Mozzano (22 km), famous for teh "Ponte del Diavolo" (Devil's Bridge). Continue up the valley until Gallicano. Leaving Gallicano follow the signs to Verni; after going through the village continue for about 2 kilometres and you will find us! |
